ORGANIZATION

First of all, kids have a ton of after school activities that keep them busy, and trying to keep them organized can be a challenge. A good idea is to create “calendar central”, a designated place where all family calendars and schedules are located.   2. Create an after school routine and include snack time.

  4. Visit the school website or call for a list of required school supplies.

  6. Find out whether your child’s teacher prefers to communicate by phone, email or written note.
  7. Know what your child is expected to learn in his/her grade level.
  8. Read the school handbook and make sure your child understands the rules.
  9. Mark school events on the family calendar.

10.  Most importantly, discuss your child’s feelings about starting school and talk over any concerns.
