It's Time for Summer Eating
The weather is heating up, and soon so will the grills, as we officially enter into the summer eating season. Kicking off the season we have recipes and ideas on how to prepare a delicious Sirloin Caesar Salad to festive German-Style Beer Brats to savory Caribbean Dogs and more.
You can’t go wrong with a salad! Research shows that by eating salads, raw vegetables and salad dressing you will have considerably higher levels of vitamins C, E, B6, and folic acid than those who don’t. These vitamins are all key ingredients in promoting a healthy immune system. Also, healthy oils in salad dressing help fight against heart disease and cancer.
Everybody knows that you can’t have summer grilling without hotdogs and hamburgers. That is why 7 billion hotdogs are consumed between Memorial and Labor Day every year! More than three quarters of Americans grill hotdogs and hamburgers during the summer months. Sara Lee Bakery reports that half of all the total bun sales occur between April and September. If you are looking for healthy options, serve them with Sara Lee Soft & Smooth Wheat Buns lightly toasted. They’re a more nutritious alternative with six grams of whole grain per bun and taste great too.
One popular, high quality hotdog is the Hillshire Farm Miller High Life Beer Brats. These are great because they have already been marinated in beer and so they save you hours of time. You can grill them and top them with mustard and onion. Also, try Hillshire Farm Hot and Spicy Italian Style Smoked Sausage. It’s made with made with the highest quality ingredients and authentic Italian spices, so it doesn’t need marinating. You can top that with tomato, basil and mozzarella cheese. Ballpark Franks also has these Angus Beef Bun Size Franks and they have such a distinctive taste. There’s even a lower fat, full taste version. Both are delicious and you can dress them up any way you would like.
